Kon-Tiki byThor Heyerdahl
Polynesia, Easter Island: Who first settled these islands and how did they get there? When the Europeans "discovered" these islands, there were already vibrant civilizations. The author's theory is that people from South America populated these islands thousands of years ago. Way way before Columbus and the age of discovery.

I also recently read 1421 By Gavin Menzies. Similar theory. While the Europeans were smart brave men, they were traveling in the wake of even smarter, braver, older men from China, and South America and who-knows where.

These books make history interesting and fun to read. But don't take my word for it.
